A civil suit brought against FastTrain College of Florida, a for-profit chain of colleges in Miami, resulted in a $20 million judgment in favor of the United States. The now defunct chain and its President were found liable for defrauding the U.S. Department of Education by submitting fictitious high school diplomas and GED information in order to receive federal student aid funds for ineligible students, many of whom now carry debt.
